Alexia MacLeod   Partner | Executive Vice President

Alexia is a Partner and Co-owner with Somerville who began working at the firm in 2004 as an administrative assistant. She came to Somerville with 8 years of management experience which she gained working for The Sports Medicine Specialists and team physicians for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Alexia's primary responsibility is managing Somerville’s financial operations and also coordinates business development including due diligence and pre-qualification of the firm. After the completion of a successful bid by our estimators, and once awarded the project, Alexia serves as controller and financial administrator on our projects. Along with financial administration Alexia manages the day to day operation of Somerville’s head office and staff. Alexia is an avid enthusiast of personal training and proponent of healthy living. She loves to cook but also enjoys dining out over a fine glass of wine. And somewhere in her spare time between working, travel, family and training Alexia has published a novel.

 

Dave MacLeod   Partner | Vice President Consulting

David became Partner and Co-owner of Somerville Construction, Consulting & Project Management in December 2016. He brings to Somerville 25 years of project management and consulting experience in a broad range of real estate development/construction and urban planning disciplines. He began his career with Hemson Consulting Ltd. in 1989, while a student at Ryerson University where he obtained his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Geography in 1991. In his 17 years with Hemson he developed experience in a number of practice areas including demographic and economic forecasting, market analysis, economic impact assessments and feasibility studies. In 2006 David joined Armstrong Planning, where over 10 years he developed an in-depth background in development planning, managing projects that required municipal approvals, was involved in due diligence for property acquisitions, provided input to development budgets, and liaised with construction teams throughout the course of developing residential and commercial construction projects across the GTA and southern Ontario. David has added his consulting practice to Somerville’s current range of services offered to our clients. David and his family have been residents of Toronto’s “Danforth Village” for 15 years and are active members of the community at school, in sports, and at local shops and restaurants. They enjoy travelling to cities throughout North America and on are on track to attend a baseball game in every ballpark in the Major Leagues.

 

Tony Vizzini  Lead Construction Manager

Tony is a Senior Project Manager with Somerville, joining the firm in 2005. With over 20 years of experience, Tony has managed numerous construction projects and provides a unique skillset to our firm. He obtained his diploma in Civil Engineering from Humber College of Applied Arts in 1996 and has completed a number of courses through the Canadian Construction Association. He has obtained a number of certifications, memberships and licenses for managing construction sites and teams. Tony has served as site super and project manager and has overseen the successful completion of a number of iconic urban parks and landscaping structures along Toronto’s waterfront, including the Spadina, Simcoe and Rees Wavedecks, HTO park and recently managed the construction of the Eva’s Phoenix Transitional Youth Housing & Employment Facility. Tony is currently managing the redevelopment of Bellevue Park in the Kensington Market neighbourhood of Toronto. Tony enjoys family time with his wife and 2 sons in Milton where he was born and raised and can be found spending his “off-time” in the gym.

 
 

Moises De Lima    Project Manager

Moises is our newest member of the management team at Somerville. He has 17 years of experience on “the tools” as a carpenter. He started with Somerville Construction in 2001 as an OYAP Carpenter Apprentice.

Moises was honored with being the very first OYAP apprentice to receive the Red Seal Qualification as a carpenter in 2007. For many years Moises was Lead Hand Carpenter under the guidance of Alfredo Rodrigues, our previous Lead Foreman who retired in 2012. Over the years Moises supervised and ran some smaller projects for Somerville such as washroom renovations at the Scarborough Court House and the Metro Hall Stage Rehabilitation. He took on the roll as Foreman when Alfredo retired and was a key member in many subsequent projects including Eva’s Phoenix Transitional Youth Housing & Employment Facility and the revitalization of Berczy Park. In 2018 Moises accepted the position as Project Manager under the guidance of Tony Vizzini, who leads Somerville’s Construction Division. He will be assisting with our current projects at Bellevue Park in Kensington Market and Queen’s Park north. Moises has his carpenter Red Seal Qualification and is a CWA certified welder. He is fluent in Portuguese and English, has been a musician for 24 years in the BSSC Portuguese Marching Band, is an avid amateur photographer and enjoys playing hockey as a goalie. Most of all he loves to spend time with his wife and two daughters.

 
Mike Mizen

Taylor Harrison   Accounts Payable

Taylor joined Somerville Construction, Consulting & Project Management in the summer of 2020. Besides being the friendly face you meet first when coming to our office she assists with the day to day administrative duties for the firm. Taylor manages account payables and payroll and provides executive assistance to the company’s management. Taylor resides in Durham Region with her husband and two Betta fish.

Ian Somerville   Founder

Ian is our company founder. He started Somerville Construction in 1986 and over 30 years turned the company into an award-winning firm having built some of Toronto’s most iconic parks and public spaces. Ian was the driving force that established the company’s reputation of building unique and complex projects in a timely manner.

Following over 40 years in the construction industry Ian retired in 2016 but remains an advisor to our current team and an important asset to our company.
